Living Links Area

Living Links focuses on the Dandenong Creek Catchment in Melbourne’s south‑east, a major centre for economic, natural, cultural and recreational activity.

The region is strategically important for Victoria, with strong business and industrial sectors that include nearly half of the State’s manufacturing and over a quarter of its businesses.

More than 1.53 million people live in Melbourne’s south‑east, one of the most liveable parts of an already highly liveable city.

The population is growing quickly, expected to reach 2.25 million by 2050, and new infrastructure is expanding to keep pace. The area is well connected by extensive rail and road networks.

Despite this growth, the region remains close to key natural attractions, including bayside beaches, the Dandenong Ranges National Park, Braeside Park, Lysterfield Lake and the Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne.

Living Links is a large‑scale initiative to protect the region’s natural values as development continues, and to help create a world‑class urban ecosystem.
