On World Environment Day, 5 June, a bold new plan was launched to create an urban forest across metropolitan Melbourne.
Called Living Melbourne: our metropolitan urban forest, the plan was developed by Resilient Melbourne in partnership with The Nature Conservancy during two years of collaboration to develop the evidence base and actions required to connect, extend and enhance urban greening across the metropolitan area. In an unprecedented effort, Living Melbourne has been endorsed by 41 organisations representing local government, Victorian government, water authorities, statutory agencies and industry bodies.
Living Melbourne aims to create a profound shift in the way we think about, value and grow Melbourne into the future. It is very much in line with the vision of Living Links, which is to create a web of green spaces across Melbourne’s south-east.
Living Links would like to congratulate Resilient Melbourne and the Nature Conservancy for their fantastic work in pulling together this impressive body of work.
